These ingredients must be properly mixed to come up with the correct lemonade concoction:
o 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed organic lemon juice
o 2 tablespoons of grade B organic maple syrup
o A 10th of a teaspoon of powdered organic cayenne pepper
o Distilled water in 10 oz glasses
You would need to drink at least 6-10 servings a day. There are no specific guidelines when you should drink the lemonade, but as a rule of thumb, drink it when you are hungry.
• Lemon Juice
Approximately ½ of a lemon will be needed to create 2 tablespoons of the juice. If making a whole day’s supply is preferred, bear in mind lemon juice will spoil in 8 hours, regardless of placing the lemon juice in the fridge.
Never use canned lemon juice, as canned lemon juice no longer contains the needed vitamins and nutrients. Our body needs all the nutrients that is only available from fresh lemon juice because only the lemonade will be consumed for the entire 10 days of the Master Cleanse.
Do remember to use organic lemons because non-organic lemons contain toxins like pesticides, otherwise it will defeat the purpose of doing the master cleanse.
• Grade B Organic Maple Syrup
Only use the Grade B Organic Maple Syrup. Other types of maple syrup are not appropriate for The Lemon Diet. Grade B Organic Maple Syrup should not be mistaken for commercial maple syrup used on pancakes, the two are different maple syrup.
Grade B are also more superior in terms of nutritional value. Many websites are saying that as long as you are using the organic maple syrup, then it should be fine. But the truth is if you really can’t find the grade B Organic Maple Syrup, then you have no choice but to use the organic maple syrup.
• Powdered Cayenne Pepper
The powerful healing properties of Cayenne Pepper should never be taken for granted. Regarded as one of the world’s best healing herbs, Cayenne Pepper increases the body’s blood flow. Has a rich amount of vitamins B and C. Cayenne Pepper is known to prevent heart attacks. Powdered Cayenne Pepper is highly recommended, compared to ungrounded Cayenne Pepper
Most of the time, participants find it difficult to acquire the taste of the powdered cayenne pepper. They couldn’t really drink the lemonade with the cayenne pepper and give up halfway.
If you find it difficult to drink it too, here’s a tip… You should actually start off with a little cayenne pepper and get use to the taste and slowly add more cayenne pepper. Don’t use the cayenne pepper pills manufactured by the pharmaceutical companies as most of the time, most of the nutritional value in the cayenne pepper will be gone.
How much of cayenne pepper is needed in the capsules? Just a measure of 1/10 teaspoon of a powdered cayenne pepper will do.
Salt Water Flush
When you are embark on the lemonade diet, you would need to do the salt water flush every morning during the cleanse. To prepare the salt water flush, you can mix a teaspoon of organic sea salt (non-iodized) with 25-35 oz of warm water. If you find the solution hard to drink, you can try using distilled water under room temperature. Some of our readers mixed a little lemon juice with the salt water flush to make it easier to drink.
Laxative Tea
You need non-caffeinated laxative tea for the lemonade diet. One usually drink the laxative tea just before they go to bed. You can get organic green or peppermint tea for the cleanse.
If you are unable to withstand the salt water flush, you can drink the laxative tea in the morning too. But if you find that you do not have frequent bowel elimination, you might want to consider doing the salt water flush.
Do You Know?
One of the reasons that this cleanse is able to detoxify your body so well is because almost all of these ingredients are alkalizing. Lemons and cayenne pepper are one of the most alkalizing foods in the whole world. You will probably ask the question “Ain’t lemons acidic?”.
If we test it using a litmus paper before we consume, yes it is acidic. But once it get digested in our stomach, it will form water, carbon dioxide and an inorganic compound. This inorganic compound is what they usually called it as an ash. The researchers would then test this ash to see whether if it is acidic or alkaline. My friend has been doing the diet for 6 day now,
because he says that it’s not so bad n thinks of doing it longer then

in reference to comments above. Do not do this diet for a month! it is a cleanse diet for 10 days not a diet that should last longer. i’ve known people to do the 10 cleanse twice a year, but that’s it. Also you cannot eat fruit on this diet. I have done this and lost 20 pounds in 10 days. the purpose is to cleanse your body, get rid of toxins and all the “backup” that’s in your system and then start eating healthy. its a ‘kick start’
Do you have to use all organic ingredients with the lemonade diet?
actually you are completely able to do it longer than 10 days. a month is pushing it but 15-20 days is fine. no FOOD, period. that includes fruit, especially because of the pesticides in most fruits. Do the tea, do the flush. Just do it like it says in the book.

im thinking of tryin the lemonade diet. If I just follow the procedure that is given here is it safe enough or should cctv I go see a professional? If so where can I find one?
I have used the diet 3 times in the last year. To date I have lost 62 pounds and feel great. The first time I did it I had so much junk and toxins in my body i felt bad about the 4th day, all the toxins in my bloodstream going out i guess. After that no problem for the rest of the ten days. It was easier the second and 3rd time. My cholestorol has dropped from 210 to 132. I do eat a lot of vegetables now and I feel great! No more heartburn or aching joints
Is it safe to exercise while on this diet?? I jog a good 4 miles every other day
I am looking to get back in shape and loose 30 pounds. So I am looking into this to really kick start putting my body back in shape. Is it dangerous to work out while doing thing because of the lack of food? Do I have to do the salt water and tea ? You can of course drink water during the cleanse. I went to the gym during my last cleanse and was fine. The maple syrup has enough calories to sustain you, but always listen to your body. A healthy person should not need to go to a dr. Yes, do the tea and swf! The lemonade loosens the toxins and the tea gets you ready to do the swf in the am.
And if you’re hoping to drink coffee, alcohol, etc then you’re not cleansing, are you?

Do we really need to add 2T of maple syrup? That sounds like so much sugar! Probably need a good amount to offset the cayenne flavor, but still. Sweetened water just doesn’t sound that healthy really.
@Trina: That’s a good question. One thing is that maple syrup isn’t the same as sugar and hence it isn’t as bad as sugar. Sugar concentration level for white sugar is 97%, I think maple syrup is around 50+% (the last time I checked). Next is you need to get organic maple syrup so that it’ll be natural.
i no this sounds silyl but can you have sugar free chewing gum on this diet.
I am on day one of this diet. I was talking to some friends and they are worried about what will happen afterwards. I already eat decently well, only once in a while indulging, and I exercise. Will this yo-yo me all my weight right back when I go back to eating food again? (When I eat I typically eat fresh fruits and veggies, I eat chicken, I dont really eat any fastfood or fried food, just saying)
also, I know you can drink the tea that will help with bowels but can you drink regular tea? or is there an alternative to the maple syrup? I just dont really like syrup :/ I have never even been one to put it on my pancakes or anything. So is there any other alternative to get the calories?

I’m on day 5 of the diet and feel great. Where I live, we have a 6 day holiday, so I was able to do most of it while on vacation. I have been doing yoga stretching and 2 hour walks for exercise. When I started the diet, a size 38 waist was tight and a size 36 was diffiult to fit into. Now I fit into a size 36 and the size 38 is loose. Onto waist size 34! Granted, much of the weight was beer gut, but it feels great to lose it.
I’m using bottled water, instead of distilled. It’s difficult to get distilled water here. Otherwise, I’m following the diet to the letter.
Im on day 2 of the diet and i cant physically stomache the salt water flush or the laxative tea!! I have attempted the SWF numerous times and each time have been physically sick! I dont want to get involved with the laxative tea (plus it tastes awful!) but will i still get the same results by just drinking the lemonade and exersising?
Can I ate anything else besides the lemonade. I am confuse about the tea and saltwater. Please advise.

Trina: Your body runs on sugar. The Maple Syrup is necessary to keep the braining functioning properly. The amount suggested has nothing to do with masking the pepper.
Sam: When I did the Cleanse I exercised everyday (mostly running). The trick is to listen to your body and make sure you take enough of the tea. Again the brain needs sugar to run.

@gloria: no you can’t. you are trying to cleanse your body and eating anything else would just hinder the process.
Saltwater flush in the morning and laxative tea in the evening. You need to do it everyday in the cleanse to help you eliminate bowels from your body.
How long? I have a friend on day 18 of the diet. He looks good & says he feels great. The book by Stanley Burroughs says “up to 40days and beyond MAY be safely followed by EXTREMELY serious cases. (emphasis mine).
Honey? Again, per the book: “It is deficient in calcium and has many detrimental effect for the human body.. honey is only a little less empty and more dangerous than sugar.”

Ok, so after reading everyone’s comments I’m surprised at the redundancy of questions that were answered somewhere along the line. Hahaha, oh well. So, no alcohol, no coffee, no fruit, no food at all essentially. You CAN drink water. 10-15 days for the cleanse being the safest duration. Tea in the evening before (damn Im gonna get up a lot to piss at night) bed. Salt water flush drink (sea salt-non-ionized) in the morning. I heard that a maple syrup substitute can be Organic Blue Agave sweetener. True? What about the tea? Green tea? Wu Yi tea? Does it have to be a laxative tea? I have an appearance this coming Saturday where I have to perform on the guitar, should I wait and do this cleanse after my appearance? Or can I do this for the next 3 days and have it make small difference? My turn to ask question that have probably already been answered.

Lost 50lbs in 3 months!!
It all comes down to healthy eating, small portion sizes, long walks/jogs and short workouts.
I first did a body detox to clean away all the junk that gets clogged in the body after years of bad foods and stuff, its said that we all should detox every few years or atleast every 12 years or so.
The detox I used is all natural and is also used for bringing your stomach back to its original size and allows you to eat smaller portions and while on this you loss natural weight as well.
While on the detox you are only allowed the detox drink and water.
Ok the best way to get ready for this detox called the Master Cleanse is to first allow yourself to get use to less and less eating so that once on the detox you won’t have bad cravings and mess up by eating.
So go out to the store and buy two bottles of V8 Juice, these come in 2 quarts bottles. We will be warming up the V8 and eating it for meals and drinking no less then a gallon of water each day. Use the V8 in all your meals and if you can just use the V8 cause the sooner you finish off both bottles the better so that you are now down to hardly eating.
Now that you are finished with the V8 you are ready to start doing the detox by using the V8 bottles for making the mix, they are perfect half gallon bottles to work with and you will need to be drinking atleast 1 gallon of the detox a day so these bottles work great for it.
Making one bottles worth (2 quarts):
2 ½ Freshly squeezed lemons
10 Tablespoons pure grade A (Preferably B but its hard to find) maple syrup
½ Teaspoon cayenne pepper
Fill the rest with water and shake well
Just make 2 bottles of that each day for 10-15 days. The cayenne pepper kind of ruined the drink for me so I would just down 1 Teaspoon strait and drink down some water and then you have the full amount of cayenne for the day. Also 10 tablespoons of the maple syrup might be a bit too sweet, so using no less then 8 tablespoons would work to. And yes with how much of this pure maple syrup and lemons that is needed each day, this 10-15 day detox is not cheap to do. I would normally buy 20 lemons and 2 bottles of the pure grade A maple syrup and it would be about $40 and that’s only a 4 day supply.
After the 3rd day use a herbal laxative tea and again about every other day to help with the cleansing process.
While I was doing the 15 days of that I did light exercise and you feel very energized and really feel great after about day 5. After the 15 days you need to slowly get back into foods so start with light soups and more V8 until your body can handle more.
Once you’re done with all that you have a hard time not eating healthy and just get out and walk a mile and even better speed walk it, also try and put cayenne pepper in most all your meals as it boosts metabolism and has all kinds of healthy benefits. Also keep drinking no less then 1 gallon of water each day; I drink a gallon and a half.
I started off with just light weight lifting, jogging about a mile a day or 2 mile walks. Now I jog for 2 and a half miles or speed walk 5 miles as well as daily push-ups, sit-ups and resistance weight lifting. As long as I feel real good ill mix it up jog then power walk and repeat for a good 10 miles. But again this is more to the extreme so to still lose the 15lbs a month.
So right now I just eat in moderation and use 8oz cups to help with the portions cause with drinking a gallon and a half of water each day it doesn’t take much to get full. But no smoking, no alcohol drinks, no pops, no coffee, no candies or anything that does nothing positive to the body.
I just stick with things that are a must have for the body to function and I’m feeling great.
So I’m 17 and very active I play golf and basketball and am interested in doing this but I don’t want to do it during golf cuz I plan on getting a scholarship for it. But then again basketball starts as soon as golf ends and I don’t think my coach would appreciate me passing out at practice or a game…. so when should I do this? Is it safe to do it during basketball? Or should I wait? And I’m pretty sure my parents will catch on that I’m not eatong and my dad will think its the stupidest thing ever and my mom wouldn’t reallly care I don’t think haha she believes this stuff.. so when should I start? And how long should I go?
I am a migraine sufferer. I heard that citrus is a trigger. Would this lemonade drink-diet cause migraines headaches?. Especially when I don’t drink coffee for 10 days as well.

I’m getting ready to start the cleanse. I had a hard time finding organic maple syrup so I bought grade A. I got regular lemons and cayenne pepper and the distilled water. Will I get the same results even though my ingredients aren’t organic? I’m planning on doing the salt water flush and drink the herbal tea as well.
@Clara: Usually there is a difference between organic and non-organic ingredients especially the produce are filled with pesticides.
Ok thanks, I started this morning with the salt water flush and it started working after about 40 minutes. I was able to handle the taste too. Probably because I like the salt and vinegar potato chips, lol. I just tried the first class of lemonade and it wasn’t too bad. I used the products that I bought but I’m heading to Trader Joe’s to get all organic items. I’m really excited and motivated to complete the whole cleanse. I just found out that I’m borderline diabetic and my cholesterol is getting up there. I’ve been struggling with getting my blood pressure down and I need to lose weight. I thought I would try this cleanse before I go back to the doctor to get new lab work done. My plan is to use this to get on track to eating healthier and feeling better.

Ok, after reading a lot of everyone’s messages and comments, if you are planning on doing this cleanse you really should just run to your local book store and buy The Master Cleanser. It was only $6.50. It is a small book that you can read in about an hour. It will explain everything you need to know in that small book.
I am starting it tonight with my laxative tea, then starting everything in the morning. I have friends who have done this cleanse. They tell me to be careful squeezing your lemons into a big jug and pre mixing the whole thing prior to your day. The lemons lose their vitamin and nutrient levels after about 10 minutes or so of being in the water. So, their reccommendation was to make up the whole liquid drink, except for the lemon juice till the last minute. (Just thier advice)
I can’t remember where I read this, so if anyone has a comment for it that would be great… I read that someone couldn’t handle the SWF so they would drink 5oz water, take a 2oz shot (or so) of the salt water with all the salt needed, then finish off by drinking down another 5oz of water… Has anyone tried this? Will it work if someone can’t handle the SWF?
